Hi, heeeeey!
It was nice to see you guys this week, after the horror of last week (you guys really don’t understand; it was so terrible), and we had a great meeting.
Today, we:
- talked about substance abuse and suicide amongst LGBT youth
- had a great discussion
- played Snowball
- HAD THE AMAZING HONOUR OF HAVING THE LASSITER GSA VISIT US! This honestly made my day. They were wonderful and polite, and I hope they think well of us. I hope they come back someday, and if they do, I hope you guys behave as well as you did today.
So, just a few things to wrap this up:
- Juuuust in case, the National Suicide Hotline number is 1 800 784 2344, and the Georgia number is 770 422 0202.
- Within our own school, we have an (little-known) organization called Sources of Strength. I happen to be a peer leader for it. It’s a great thing that lets kids know that their teachers are always there to listen to you if you or a friend is having problems. You might not think it, but most of the teachers at Pope are wonderful people who really care about you. Come ask me about it, or check out some of the SoS posters in the hallways.
- Remember that I have the Gay Community Yellow Pages if you want to look at it.
- I mentioned Liberation 2010, an LGBT spiritual conference. If you want to know more, ask Hannah for a brochure, and check out the website.
- I didn’t get to say it at the meeting, but I wanted to thank the people that participated in the St. Valentine’s Day event hosted by Hannah’s church.
- Keep up with the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell current events!
- If you want to participate in the school board conference this Thursday, please contact Austin, the president of the Lassiter GSA.
- 04.16.10!!!
I love you all, and thank you for coming! I look forward to seeing you all next week.
Much love!
Zoe
